Free & Open Source Software, FOSS is often abbreviated. That’s what I’ve often heard by the student to the profession class of LP3T Nurul Fikri. Moreover, students are taught this competency in Linux are very familiar with the word “Linux / FOSS”.

Well, the session OSUM (Open Source University Meetup) this time, Monday, February 15th at 13:30 until 15:00 thorough discussion of the concept of Open Source. Starting from Free software, Open Source software and license-license. Not forgetting some of the terms discussed little else that is “proprietary” and “closed source”.

Performed with ease by the interviewees, Unggul Sagena, OSUM Leader and faculty LP3T Nurul Fikri, students are satisfied with simple explanations, simple but effective. Not only have new knowledge, students also presented on the level of philosophical insight and business level that is open source business. This is in accordance with the demands of industry competencies and the demands they graduate dikala later.

Besides talking broadly about the Open Source from history, philosophy, development and purpose, students who attend also get goodies in the form of a typical pen from Sun Microsystems. All participants are approximately 30 people to get their share of a multi-function pen, ink can be used to write or to a stabillo marker.

For-the pen is also followed by I Love T-shirt gift offerings from Sun Solaris. For t-shirts, given to Danil Syahrizal, who is also coordinator moderators class professional programs. Hopefully the added excitement and coordinate his friends in the event that will come.
